Canadian venture capital totaled CAD $8.0 billion across 571 deals in 2025, according to the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (CVCA). Capital deployed fell 6% from 2024 and deal count fell 12%.
BDC Capital, the venture arm of the Business Development Bank of Canada, took part in 20 of 215 recorded seed rounds in 2025, the most of any investor. Venture debt reached its highest annual level on record, at CAD $1.40 billion across 69 deals.
