I Am Not Available: Close a Day or a Week in One Press
Close today, tomorrow, this week or next — without deleting hours one by one, and without touching the bookings.
Closing published availability for a while meant either blocking hours one at a time or deleting the availability altogether; one was tedious, the other irreversible. The availability page has been rewritten and now carries a "close your availability" card: Today · Tomorrow · This week · Next week. Before it does anything the card says what would happen — how many free hours close, and how many bookings do NOT — and waits for a second press. The same card is in the admin panel: when a mentor cannot do it themselves, an admin closes the hours on their behalf.
Four spans, one press
Today, tomorrow, this week or next week. "This week" runs from today — it never offers to close days that are already gone, which would be a promise the page cannot keep.
It says what will happen before you press
It tells you how many free hours would close and, where it applies, how many booked meetings would NOT be cancelled by this. Blocking cannot cancel a booking, and a mentor who believed the day was cleared would miss the meeting still standing in it.
The bookings are a separate decision
Meetings inside the span are listed by name and time, and you tick the ones to cancel one by one — there is no single "cancel everything" switch. The reason you type is stored as the cancellation reason and goes out in the email the other side receives.
Undoing it is one press too
"Open them again" reopens what you closed. Whether a span is closed is never remembered anywhere; it is read from the hours on screen — so a reload, or another device, still tells the truth.
An admin can close them too
The same card sits in the mentor’s availability panel. If the mentor is away or cannot sign in, an admin closes the hours for them — and who did it stays in the logs.
Closing, not deleting
Blocking does not delete availability: your weekly pattern stays exactly as it is, and only that span closes to booking. The week after next is untouched.
A booked hour no longer reads as free
The rewrite also fixed the most annoying bug on the page: a taken hour could be drawn as empty in the preview, and pressing it blocked the hour instead of opening the meeting.
What it is good for
- You are ill: close today and tomorrow, cancel the two meetings from the list — and keep the third if you want to.
- You are going on holiday: close the week; your weekly availability pattern is not deleted and picks up by itself when you are back.
- A heavy week: close this week and leave next week open.
- The mentor told you: close it on their behalf as an admin, so they do not have to sign in.
